I have always been a restless soul.
The sound of a distant train whistle gets my blood pumping. Travel is
addictive, and the more I travel, the harder it is to settle down anywhere.
This page is devoted to my recent trip around the world, as seen through
photographs I've taken along the way.
My first trip away from North America was to the UK and Paris with my family
in 1987. That was an eye opening experience--a window into an entirely
new world. When I graduated from high school in 1990, I took a whirlwind
trip through Europe with my brother and father. In 1992, while a sophomore
in college, I spent six weeks in Florence, Italy studying Renaissance
art and drawing. In 1994, I made a trip to Spain for a month with a friend
from school. I've travelled around the U.S., made short forays into Canada
and Mexico...
...But after spending three years in Seattle working like a fiend as a computer
programmer, I decided to pack up and make a trip around the globe. I drove
from Seattle to San Francisco, then on through Death Valley, the Grand
Canyon, Bryce Canyon, the plains, and rested in Indiana where my parents
live. I planned my trip in a couple of months and headed out in July of
1998. I flew from Chicago to New York, where I visited a friend in Brooklyn
that I had known since high school. Then I headed across the Atlantic,
beginning my whirlwind circumnavigation of the globe that brought me back
to the States only six months later...but what an amazing six months! Now
I'm living in Brooklyn and it looks like I've come full circle. I've been
working in New York for a couple of years and I'm getting the itch again...
entire continents yet to explore: Africa, South America...
